What do Candid Construction do for the community?
Why choose Candid Construction Scotland for your extension!
As a Lanarkshire based business we are committed to giving back to our local communities. Ways in which we do this include; sponsoring the 2014 Blantyre Celtic Community Club Football Team; we buy the team kits, jackets and fleeces for the 2014 group and are present every week at their matches.
We are a proud company supporter of ‘The Lighthouse Club’ Charity which supports people and their families, locally and nationally, who are involved in construction with mental, physical, financial and emotional support in a crisis. As a lot of people working in construction are self-employed we recognise that sometimes families need to take time away from work, for many different reasons, and the Lighthouse Club supports these families when they need it. We donate to the charity and take part in yearly fundraising events in support of this much needed cause.
We work alongside the Developing the Young Workforce Lanarkshire team who support youth employment. Which means our Business Support group go into local schools to listen to our young people and discuss/ have learning conversations with them about the possibilities and opportunities of choosing a pathway or career into construction. Sometimes, we take part in mock interviews with young people to give them an opportunity to experience and prepare for what this would be like in the world of work when they leave school.
We mentor and support all new apprentices who come to work with Candid in a supportive and encouraging environment, if our apprentices are willing we encourage them to develop skills in various areas of construction putting them forward for skills cards through the SQA; and we often put apprentices through college for specific technical trades such as, joinery. We encourage and foster a need to develop our team and help them grow to reach their full potential for themselves; and indeed our multi-trade construction and landscaping company and this is reflective in our Fair Pay Policy where every member of staff is paid more than the National Living Wage.
Planning Permission and Building Regulations.
Planning Permission and Building regulation advice and helpful links.
Planning Permission
Before you start your extension project, it's essential to check if you need planning permission from your local council. The requirements for planning permission vary depending on the scale and type of the project, as well as your location. It's always safer to confirm before you begin, to avoid any legal complications down the line.
Building Compliance
Another key factor to consider is building compliance. These regulations are designed to ensure that all construction work meets safety and quality standards. Building compliance is usually a necessity, and you can read more about the specifics of these regulations here.
Conclusion
In conclusion, building a home extension is a significant project that requires careful planning and consideration. By understanding the different types of extensions, securing necessary permissions and ensuring compliance, and choosing a quality building company, you can ensure a successful and satisfying result. Happy building!
